QR Code on Business Cards: vCard Guide With Size Tips

Add a vCard QR code to your business card so contacts save in one scan. What to include, minimum size, placement and print checks.

· 2 min read

A QR code on your business card lets people save your details in one scan instead of typing them, and they rarely make it into a phone otherwise.

vCard or link?

A vCard QR code holds your contact record directly: name, phone, email, company, website. Scanning opens "Create contact" with everything filled in. A link QR code opens a web page (your profile or portfolio). For networking, vCard is faster; add your website inside it.

Keep it lean

Every field makes the code denser. Name, mobile, email, company, title and website are plenty. Skip the full postal address unless people need to visit.

Size and placement

  • At least 20 × 20 mm on a standard 85 × 55 mm card.
  • Keep a white margin around it; don't let it touch the card edge.
  • Back of the card works well, with a short line: "Scan to save my contact".

Print check

Ask your printer for a proof and scan it with an iPhone and an Android phone. Uncoated or matte card stock scans best.

Make it yourself in under a minute

  1. Open the generator

The vCard QR code generator for business cards opens with the right content type already selected.

  2. Fill in the content

Enter the link, network, contact or message. The preview updates instantly.

  3. Brand it (optional)

Add your logo and colors. The scan test checks every change.

  4. Download and print

Black codes download free as PNG. Use SVG for print with a paid plan.

Quick answers

Can I update my business card QR code later?

A vCard code stores details in the code, so changes need a new code. If you expect changes, use a link to a profile page you control.
