Scan a QR code with your camera, or upload a photo or screenshot. It works on phones and computers, decodes in your browser, and shows you what the code contains before anything opens.
Or drag an image here, or paste a screenshot (Ctrl+V / ⌘V). Nothing is uploaded.
Camera: press Scan with camera, allow camera access, and point it at the code. It reads automatically.
Picture or screenshot: press Upload image, drag the file onto the box, or paste it with Ctrl+V.
Check the result: read the decoded text and any warnings before you open a link.
Scan safely: how to spot a malicious QR code
QR codes are a common phishing trick (often called quishing), because you cannot read the address by looking at the code. This scanner never opens anything by itself. It shows the full address and flags warning signs: links that are not secure (http), raw IP addresses, look-alike international domains (punycode, starting with xn--), link shorteners that hide the real destination, and addresses that use an @ sign to disguise the real site.
No automatic check can prove a link is safe. If a code on a parking meter, flyer or email asks you to pay or sign in, type the company's address yourself instead. Read our guide to QR code scams.
What a QR code can contain
Most codes hold a web address, but they can also contain plain text, Wi-Fi details, a contact card (vCard), an email or text message, a phone number, a location or a calendar event. The scanner recognises these and shows the details in readable form.
Privacy
Scanning runs entirely in your browser. Camera frames and images are not uploaded, saved or logged, and Wi-Fi passwords shown in results are not stored.
Frequently asked questions
Is this QR code scanner free?
Yes. Scanning is free and needs no account. You can scan as many codes as you like.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The camera feed and any picture you choose are processed inside your browser. They are not sent to our server.
Can I scan a QR code from a screenshot?
Yes. Choose Upload image and pick the screenshot, or paste it with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac). Crop it if the page contains several codes.
Will the scanner open the link automatically?
No. It shows the decoded text first and checks links for common warning signs, such as a non-secure http address, a raw IP address, a look-alike (punycode) domain or a link shortener. You decide whether to open it.
Why will my QR code not scan?
Common causes are low contrast, a blurry or very small photo, glare, a missing quiet zone (the white border) or a damaged code. Try a sharper, straight-on photo with good light.
Can it read Wi-Fi QR codes?
Yes. It shows the network name, security type and password from Wi-Fi codes so you can connect manually. The password is not stored.
